The Deputy Minister of Digital Governance announced retrospective checks of suspicious declarations in the Land Registry
Yet another fraud with usufructuary, this time in Halkidiki, was revealed by the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis.
As he said, after the alleged fraud in Hydra, Spetses and Agistri, this time a lawyer tried to declare more than 130 plots of land as his own with usufruct in Halkidiki. Speaking to SKAI, Mr. Kyranakis characteristically said that “a lawyer who tried to register over 130 plots of land in Halkidiki was found in the land registry”.
Mr. Kyranakis reminded on the occasion of these two cases, that “the penalty when the fraud is at the expense of the public, is 10 to 20 years in prison and when it is against a private person then it is 5 to 10 years in prison”. At the same time, he sent a message that the controls will also be done retrospectively. When asked about it, he did not rule out the possibility that the frauds that are detected come from “internal information” from the companies that have undertaken the land registration. In this context, however, he clarified that “in Agistri and Hydra, the owner of the company that supervised the study helped document the case”.
