The following cases are indicated as examples:
1. Identification of a quantity of contraband cigarettes carefully hidden, seized by customs officials of AADE in the Gardens.
With the self-propelled x-ray detection system, the AADE inspectors “scanned” I.X. car with French plates upon entering the country. The driver, a Turkish citizen and a resident of France, had hidden 1,600 packs of contraband “Marlboro Red” cigarettes in the trunk, trunk, rear bumper, and even in the car’s spare.
The cigarettes were confiscated immediately, while the evaded duties and taxes exceed 6,400 euros.
2. Preventing an attempt to illegally import cash into Kakavia.
AADE inspectors stopped a bus with Greek license plates coming from Albania when it entered our country through the Kakavia border station and after a thorough search they discovered banknotes worth 41,690 euros. The driver, an Albanian citizen, had hidden them in various parts of the bus, without declaring them to customs, in violation of the regulations on cash. He was fined 25% of the total amount, while the case is under further investigation.
3. Detection of drugs “mailed” inside a parcel of clothes.
AADE customs inspectors and the specially trained dog of AADE proceeded to locate and seize 2.6 kilograms of drugs after checking a warehouse at the airport “El. Venizelos”.
The detection dog “Diego” of AADE, was not fooled by the camouflage and detected 2,592 kg of cannabis and Δ9-Δ8-tetrahydrocannabinol, which were carefully packed in a cardboard box with clothes, in the ELTA temporary storage warehouse of the airport.
The drugs, whose value is estimated to exceed 77,000 euros, were seized and sent to the AADE, to the chemistry for analysis. This was followed by an organized controlled delivery of drugs by EL.AS., which led to the arrest of one person.
