According to Lonely Planet
The third place is held by Alonissos in the new list published by Lonely Planet with the 23 destinations on the planet offered to those who travel alone.
As the popular travel news outlet reports, “properly planning a trip without traveling companions is not just a formality but has evolved into an art. With the trend of solo traveling gaining constant new supporters, 2025 will be a great year for solo travel.” The international site considers a key factor in the success of this venture the careful selection of the destination and then suggests the most suitable places after expert research. It is noted that the Lonely Planet list includes Iceland, Lisbon and Alonissos in the first three positions.
The top ten is completed by the Copper Coast of Ireland, Munich, Sikkim in India, Chiang Mai in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Uzbekistan, while the list is completed by destinations from the USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Belize, Ecuador, Peru, South and West Africa, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.
According to Lonely Planet, “Alonissos reveals unique natural beauties “dressed” by pine forests and turquoise waters. The absence of mass tourism gives a pleasantly welcoming atmosphere that is in keeping with the slow relaxing pace of life, the alleys, the paths, the chapels and the picturesque Old Alonissos. In Alonissos, the National Marine Park stands out as one of the largest in Europe, as well as the wreck of Peristera, which is an excellent underwater museum.”
In fact, in view of the new season, the Municipality of Alonissos, with the help of specialized consultants, organized contacts at the international tourism exhibition in London, where associations of travel editors and professionals, representatives of tourist organizations and international media journalists showed their interest in the potential of the destination and the special forms of tourism.
“Our island attracts a wide range of travelers, families, couples, individual visitors and groups, who feel Alonissos as their home and enjoy quality services, unique nature, unpretentious hospitality, local cuisine, blue-green waters, relaxation, positive energy and unique activities. The quality and authenticity of Alonissos pleasantly surprise Greek and foreign visitors at a time when massiveness and hyper-tourism have made their appearance in many destinations,” points out the Mayor of Alonissos, Panagiotis Anagnostou.
