How did the incident happen?
An order to immediately carry out a sworn administrative examination for the incident at a nursery school in Cholargos where the wrong child was given to a 64-year-old, the Municipality of Papagos – Cholargos issued in a statement.
According to an announcement by the Municipality of Papagos-Cholargos, it will be checked whether the prescribed procedure for the children’s departure has been followed, while all the required data will be gathered for establishing that disciplinary offenses have been committed as the incident is considered “extremely serious”.
The Municipality states in an informative note:
“Dear parents,
following the very serious incident that took place on 11/11/2024, at the 2nd Nursery and 3rd Kindergarten of Cholargos and in accordance with the relevant provisions, I inform you that I have already given an order for the immediate conduct of a sworn administrative examination, in order to check whether the prescribed procedure for the departure of the children was observed, as well as to gather all the required data for the determination committing disciplinary offenses and identifying the responsible persons. The reported incident is extremely serious and if the responsibility of specific persons is established, the prescribed disciplinary procedure will be initiated immediately.”
What happened
When the 64-year-old returned home, his family were shocked to see that the 19-month-old child was not theirs. Immediately the grandfather, accompanied by the mother, who filed a lawsuit against the attendants, took it to the daycare center, where the father of the little one had already gone and was anxiously looking for it.
In fact, the father notified the Police, as well at first he thought it was a kidnapping. Despite all this, a case file was filed against the grandfather as well as the station managers, for neglecting the supervision of a minor under two years of age.
