The film will premiere in Greek theaters on December 5
A new trailer and the official poster of the much talked about movie “Maria” starring Angelina Jolie released by Netflix.
She plays the greatest opera diva, Maria Callas, in one of the most demanding roles of her career.
The alternating shots in the “Maria” trailer show Jolie’s impressive transformation into Callas. The film focuses on the last days in Paris of the legendary opera diva in the 70s.
Maria Sofia ‘Anna Kaikilia Kalogeropoulou, as her full name was died at the age of 53 from a heart attack, in the City of Light.
The film is directed by award-winning Chilean director Pablo Laraine, who completes his atypical trilogy of portraits of famous women on the big screen after the Oscar-nominated Jackie in 2016 with Natalie Portman and Spencer in 2021 with Kristen Stewart. The script is written by Steven Knight, while the filming took place in Greece, Budapest, Milan and of course Paris.
By Jolie’s side are Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Cody Schmidt-McPhee and Valeria Golino.
The film will open the 65th Thessaloniki Film Festival on October 31. It will premiere in Greek theaters on December 5 from Cinobo and Faliro House while on the 11th of the same month it will be available on Netflix.
