Its perpetrators grabbed 5,000 euros and expensive jewelry
A criminal gang operating in various areas of Attica, deceiving the elderly by the “monkey” accountant method, was dismantled after a coordinated ELAS operation.
Roma phoned a woman in Kolonaki telling her that she was allegedly an accountant and her husband could get an increase in the pension. He also told her that they would secure the jewelry at home and sent a “partner” to make the supposed appreciation. The woman who suspected that something was wrong, informed the police. Officers went to her house and arrested Roma, who had just received the jewelry, while his accomplice in the car escaped.
The research revealed that the perpetrators are involved in at least six other cases. One of the victims is the mother of former ND MEP Anna Michel Asimakopoulou, who informed at noon last Tuesday, April 1, that two people who said they were DEDDIE employees, received 5,000 euros from her mother and 10,000 euros.
There are five members in the gang and all with a criminal past for similar offenses.
