Imports increased by EUR 308.4 million, ie 4.7% and from EUR 6,598.0 million last year amounted to EUR 6,906.4 million this year, while the trade deficit increased by EUR 220.2 million, ie EUR 8.5% and stood at -2.809.3 million euros versus -2.589.1 million euros.
The image of non -petroleum -free non -oil transactions shows significant differences with exports amounting to EUR 2,956.2 million in January 2025 compared to EUR 2,689.3 million in January 2024, increased by EUR 266.9 million, ie EUR 9.9% and imports amounting to EUR 5,126.0 million, increased by EUR 5,126. EUR 459.7 million, ie 9.9%. The trade deficit increased by EUR 192.8 million, ie 9.8% and amounted to -2.169.8 million euros.
According to the SEVE analysis for export performance per sector, there is a significant increase in the food sector by EUR 115.1 million or 18.6%. Compared to the corresponding period last year as well as an increase in industrial products by € 35.8 million or 6.9%.
The raw material industry (EUR 26.9 million, ie 23.4%), the various industrial products (EUR 19.3 million, ie 7.8%) and the beverage and tobacco industry (EUR 13.4 million, ie 12.6%), also increased. The highest decline in exports was reported by the vehicles (30.6 million euros, ie -8.3%), fat -barrels (EUR 6.1 million, ie 5.5%), and the chemical industry (EUR 12.6 million, ie -2.4%). Finally, the petroleum industry recorded a significant decrease of EUR 104.4 million with a variation of 7.5%, reaching EUR 1,295.4 million from € 1,399.8 million.
In terms of export destinations, 55.3% of Greek products were sent to EU Member States (27), while 44.7% in third countries with the corresponding rates in January 2024 amounting to 55.5% for the EU (27) and 44.5% for third countries.
