The bloody incident and the circumstances in which he lost his life are under investigation
An announcement was issued by the headquarters of the Hellenic Police about the death of a young Roma in the early hours of Saturday after a pursuit at Boeotia. It is not specified whether the shot came from a policeman’s weapon and it is emphasized that a thorough investigation will be carried out.
The following are detailed in the announcement:
“In the evening hours of Saturday, November 11, a patrol car of the Aliartos Police Department detected a vehicle, in which 4 people were aboard, moving at high speed on the Livadeia – Thebes Provincial Road.
The driver of the vehicle did not comply with the sound and light stop signals and developed excessive speed in order to avoid control.
Due to the high risk of the incident, they were informed through the Immediate Action Center to assist additional forces in order to locate and control the vehicle.
Afterwards, the OPKE team, which was patrolling the area, managed to locate the vehicle that was evading control, at the Kanvariou intersection on the Livadeia – Thebes provincial road.
The driver, however, still did not comply with the sound and light stop signals of the police, developed further speed, exited the National Highway and moved on a provincial road towards Domvraina Viotias and in his attempt to escape, hit a parked vehicle and came to a standstill.
The police officers of the O.P.K.E. they approached the vehicle in order to conduct a high-risk check, during which the checked driver was injured after a shooting, the circumstances of which are being investigated.
The person was immediately transferred to G.N. Thebes where it was found that he was mortally wounded.
The relevant Prosecutor was informed about the case, the involved police officer is detained and a case file is filed against him, while at the same time a Sworn Administrative Examination was ordered for the disciplinary investigation of the incident”.
