What the National Transparency Authority announced
Details of the controls in 2023 throughout the territory for its observance anti-smoking legislation announced the National Transparency Authority.
Specifically, in collaboration with ELAS and the Municipal Police officers, from January 1 to December 31, 2023, it carried out checks on 4,287 private businesses and public legal entities (hospitals, municipalities, DOU) and 413 fines were imposed, totaling 383,100 euros.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in particular 317 fines were imposed on managers or representatives of controlled entities, amounting to 373,500 euros and 96 fines to natural persons, amounting to 9,600 euros.
Indicative of the on-site inspections of a Regional Service of the EAD in the regional units of Corinth, Argolis, Laconia, Messinia and Arcadia in public services and hospitals, the following were found:
* In two hospitals / Non-existence of a smoking prevention plan and faulty supervision of the implementation of the smoking prevention plan in two hospitals.
* In four municipalities / No smoking prevention plan
* A smoker was found in a municipality who was responsible for the implementation of the smoking prevention plan
* In two regional units/ Absence of a smoking prevention plan
* In a DOU / Absence of a smoking prevention plan
The EAD sought the disciplinary responsibilities of those responsible.
