The Lonely Planet travel agency’s list
The authoritative travel organization Lonely Planet addresses off-season tourism by announcing the top ten destinations in Europe, reminiscent of summer even in winter, with Crete “representing” Greece.
As the editor of the feature states, “Europeans don’t have to travel far to find holiday destinations with good weather during the winter months. The southern regions of Europe offer plenty of blue skies, sunshine and mild temperatures. In addition, low-season travel means lower-cost package holidays and exclusive travel experiences, such as uncrowded beaches and villages.”
In the 10th place of the list, Crete stands out, which generously offers moments of calm and peace as well as quality services so that one can enjoy undisturbed heavenly beaches such as Elafonisi, visit unique historical monuments such as the Palace of Knossos, discover favorite places in Chania and Heraklion, to dine in beautiful restaurants and have fun in bars and cafes. Other places on Lonely Planet’s list include Portugal’s Algarve and Madeira, Malta, Italy’s Sicily, Cyprus, Seville, Spain’s Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, and coastal Turkey.
