The Ski Resort of Falakro and on the weekend of February 16-17, a crowd of people, sending the message that the big bet of the Drama local community for its reopening was won in the most festive way. The sunny weather on Saturday and the weak snowfall on Sunday were ideal climatic conditions for ski lovers and families to enjoy a variety of activities.
Note that the Ski resort Falakrou, one of the most popular winter destinations in northern Greece, re -opened its gates on December 21, 2024 offering unique experiences to its visitors.
A. Patakakis: “We will make the bald attraction of tourists”
The thematic Vice-Mayor of the Environment and Energy of the AMTH, Argyris Patakakis, speaking to RES-EIA points out that the reopening of the ski resort, the only one at the boundaries of the AMU Region “was the result of a systematic effort by the Administration of the Regional Governor. “Our goal,” Mr Patakakis adds, “is to reintroduce the Falakro ski resort to our district dynamics. Its excellent natural beauty in combination with its unique ability for free skiing, as the whole mountain is a large track without trees, makes it an important tourist and development infrastructure for Drama and the whole of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. We will continue to work to create all the conditions for the ski resort to now operate with modern data attracting people. We can make the bald attraction by making the most of all its advantages. “
The operation of the ski resort
The ski resort has been operating since 1980 and is one of the largest in Greece, occupying an area of 600 square kilometers. It has 21 ski slopes, at various altitudes and with different degrees of difficulty, with a total length of 20 km.
Today, the lifts are now in the ski resort: Baby 1, Baby 2, Musta and Grandfather with Base Snow on the Pants: 30cm, Snow in the Pants: 40cm. and snow quality frozen. The road to the ski resort is open, with no need for non -slip chains. However, ski operators always recommend that all visitors always have with them in the car non -slip chains, as mountain conditions can suddenly change.
Its central facilities are located on the Holy Spirit Plateau at an altitude of 1,700 meters. The slopes of the ski resort extend at high altitudes, from 1,600 meters to 2,300 meters, with several of them at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters.
Although skiing is the “king” of sports, at the ski resort during the winter months, in Falakro the visitor can do all the time and other sports – activities such as hiking, mountaineering, climbing or mountain biking.
A very special activity in the area is the caverns, which is done by experienced caverns – climbers to explore the so -called “Spring”. Snowflower is a large opening cowboy of which the roof has collapsed. At a depth of 111 meters, it is one of the deepest ranks of Macedonia.
The snow -white is at an altitude of 2,100 meters, near the chalet of the Falakro ski resort and is marble. Access to the interior depends on the snow and on the bottom there is permanent snow.
