There is no particular interest from the market for the bi -zonal invoice
In shaping the charges for ‘dynamics’ invoices Power, which is expected to be applied from autumn, are gradually moving on to most suppliers and -with the exception of the PPC But which has the most customers- there is no particular interest from the market for the bi-zonal invoice available from February 1st.
It is recalled that the bi -zonal is provided to consumers who have a “night” or “smart” meter over two periods of time in the day. The new periods are adapted to the modern data of the electrical system that differ from the time when the night stream was introduced. That is, the surplus of power generation at noon, due to photovoltaic as well as the peak of demand on the first night due to heating and / or cooling with air conditioners.
Thus the lower billing hours per zone and season, which are valid all days of the week, with the bi -zonal invoice put forward as follows:
Winter hours, lasting from November to March:
Meridian zone: 12 pm – 3 pm
Night zone: 2 am – 5 am
Summer hours, long from April to October:
Meridian zone: 11am – 3 pm
Night zone: 2 am – 4 am
The next stage is the dynamic invoices, that is, invoices that will change every hour of the 24 hours, following the fluctuations in the stock market price. This price shows very large divergences during the 24 hours, for the same reasons mentioned above: high production of photovoltaics at noon that reduces prices to nihilism, and vice versa in high demand for heating and air conditioning in the afternoons in hours when solar production decreases or resulting in raising prices. Indicatively, last week the price on the stock market was 15 euros per megawatt hour, at 1 noon on Wednesday up to 243 euros at 9am on Monday. Consequently, consumers who choose the dynamic invoice will have a significant incentive to carry their loads during high -production / low demand and low price times.
According to the framework proposed by the regulatory authority, the prices of the invoice per hour will be notified to consumers by 8pm. They will include a basic value that will be unchanged and the variable leg that will follow the fluctuations of the stock market. The Authority has also proposed the obligation of suppliers to alert consumers if prices exceed 150 euros per megawatt for a few hours and an additional “Alert” message with a message on the cell phone when they exceed 200 euros per megawatt.
As of October 1, suppliers with more than 200,000 meters should have dynamic invoices to their customers (PPC, Metlen, HERON, NRG, ELPEDISON and gas supply company Thessaloniki – Thessaly.
What is now demanded are how cheaper the invoices will be during non -peak hours to attract consumer interest and the implementation of the DEDDIE timetable for installing 550,000 smart meters this year (so far there are 650,000 mainly in businesses) and 1.2 million. Every year from 2026 to 2030, so all consumers are scheduled to have a smart meter.
