How to join – The criteria
A new category of Social Household Tariff (COT C) of electricity for large families was established with the aim of drastically reducing their energy costs.
For inclusion in this special tariff, expanded, income criteria are provided, while at the same time property criteria are not taken into account. The relevant ministerial decision was signed by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Alexandra Sdoukou following the measures announced last November by the government.
As stated in the announcement, with the decision of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Social Household Tariff KOT C – Special Tariff for Multiple Children is introduced. In this context, its beneficiaries – that is, families with four dependent children or more – are provided with a reduced price of electricity for domestic use. In particular, this is a discount on the electricity supply charge, amounting to 10 cents/kWh, which concerns, exclusively, a main residence.
In relation to the expanded income criteria for inclusion in CTO C, for a family with four dependent children the maximum annual income limit is 50,000 euros, while for each additional dependent child the amount of 2,500 euros is added, up to the total limit of 70,000 euros, regardless of the number of dependent family members. Based on calculations, the vast majority of large families are going to become beneficiaries.
The above limit is increased, by 8,000 euros, for a family that includes a person or persons with a disability of 67% or more and by 15,000 euros for a family that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided according ‘ home and it is necessary for their life.
At the same time, in the framework of CTO C, extended four-monthly consumption limits are applied for granting the discount. Specifically, they start at 2,000 kWh/four months for families with four dependent children, while for each additional dependent child consumption is added 200 KWh, up to a maximum of 4,000 kWh, regardless of the number of dependent family members.
The above limit is further increased by 300 KWh for a large family that includes a person or persons with a disability of 67% or more and by 600 KWh for a large family that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided at home and is essential for their lives.
In addition, it is noted that the beneficiaries of the new multi-child tariff benefit from the energy savings they achieve, compared to the limit of their four-month consumption. This is an additional discount due to reaching the savings target, which cannot exceed 20% of the basic discount, i.e. 12 cents/kWh.
Finally, with the same YA, the exemption regime for CTO beneficiaries from the regulated charges for the use of the system (XXS) and the use of the network (XXD) is modified. In particular, CTO A and CTO C beneficiaries are exempted from the variable part of the System Usage Charge (SUS) and the Network Usage Charge (SUS), which is calculated based on the electricity consumed within the limits of four-month consumption, while they are fully exempted from the rest branches of System Usage Charges (SUS) and Network Usage Charges (SUS). In addition, KOT B beneficiaries are exempted from the fixed and fixed part of the Network Usage Charges (NUS).
