Footage from the footballer’s home had been shown
THE George Liagas is temporarily deleted from the ESIEAaccording to the decision made by the Disciplinary Council of the Athens Daily Newspaper Editors’ Union.
ANT1’s Breakfast coverage on the death of footballer George Baldock caused the ex officio resignation from the Primary Disciplinary Council of ESIEA. After the examination of witnesses and the apology of Giorgos Liagas, the Primary Disciplinary Council of ESIEA decided to suspend the journalist for one year for violating ethics rules.
Let’s remember that George Baldock was a Greek and English footballer, international with the Greek National Team and on October 9, 2024 he was found dead at his home in Glyfada. The report of the morning show of ANT1 where they showed footage of his house, but also some of what Giorgos Liagas said was judged by the Primary Disciplinary Council of ESIEA to have violated the rules of the journalistic code of ethics.
