Kalliakmanis: “He had a criminal past but at the moment he was clean”
A death ambush had been set up by unknown assailants yesterday afternoon to the 59-year-old businessman Christos Gialia in Mandra Attica. According to information from EL.AS., the perpetrators “gassed” the 59-year-old’s car with bullets, and then set it on fire.
The murder took place yesterday evening, shortly after 18:30, on Agias Aikaterinis Street, close to the victim’s house. When the police arrived at the scene of the attack, the car was engulfed in flames and the intervention of the Fire Department was needed to extinguish it.
After the completion of the Fire Department’s operation, in which six firefighters with two vehicles participated, the charred body of the 59-year-old man was found inside the vehicle, as well as a burnt Kalashnikov, which is estimated to have belonged to the perpetrators and was thrown into the burning car, to cover their traces.
At the same time, during the EL.AS investigation. 18 shell casings were found around the vehicle, while the car was taken to the forensic laboratories for further investigation.
The 59-year-old was a well-known businessman in the area, whose main occupation was the meat trade, while in the past he had been the president of football teams. It is noted that in 2018, the ex-wife of the victim was murdered by robbers, who were arrested, outside her house, in the same area. However, according to the first estimates of the police, the two cases do not seem to be connected.
Police investigations into the case of the cold-blooded murder of the 59-year-old businessman are focused on personal and professional disputes he may have had.

The police are looking for the route taken by the executioners before and after the ambush on the 59-year-old businessman, according to ERT.
One of the scenarios that are being considered is that the perpetrators, at least two according to the first estimates, arrived here on a motorcycle and escaped with it, while there may have been support from an IX car, as there are testimonies that a few minutes before since the murder, a black car has been moving suspiciously in the area.
At the same time, testimonies from the victim’s family environment are being examined, while there is material from a security camera at his house, which is located 200 meters from the place where the execution took place. The authorities are trying, through security camera footage (which was nearby), to look for the perpetrators’ route and find out exactly how they escaped. However, it is possible that there were other people who acted as a support group.

He had various warehouses, companies with loading and unloading, he was engaged in the meat trade. They are trying to see if it was some personal difference or if it is another performance of the night. As with Kalashnikov, in this way, if it is the same weapon that killed him as the one that was thrown in to burn. It’s more reminiscent of night.”
