Who are entitled to out of vulnerable debtors to pay up to 60 installments
Extension until March 14, 2025 of the deadline for submitting applications for debt settlement to municipalities and regions of the country, will provide for legislation by the Ministry of the Interior, which will be lodged directly to Parliament for a vote.
As provided for in article 25 of Law 5143/2024, the regulation concerns all kinds of debts of natural and legal persons to the Municipalities and their legal persons, such as the Municipal Water and Sewerage – DEYA, as well as to the Regions. The settlement relates to debts certified by October 31, 2024, while the debtor’s application for the settlement is submitted to the competent department of the Municipality, the Region or its legal person.
For those who have issued a certificate of vulnerable debtor (annual individual income of up to EUR 9,600, other assets and other criteria apply), debts are paid with exemption from surcharges, interest and fines as follows:
(a) If a lump sum are paid, with a 95%exemption,
(b) If they are paid in two to six doses, with an exemption of 85%,
(c) If they are paid in seven to twelve installments, with an exemption of 80%,
d) If they are paid in 13 to 60 doses, with a 75%exemption.
Businesses, as well as natural persons who do not belong to the category of vulnerable debtor, except that the exemptions are not valid in this case.
For all cases the doses are monthly and equal (except the latter) and may not be less than 50 euros.
