“For a presenter not to wear heels back then, it meant she was probably sick”
A comprehensive interview was given by Faye Skordasshortly before the expiration of 2024, in “BIMAgazino”. Among many other things, the glamorous presenter of MEGA’s morning zone talked about the stereotypes of the “blonde” presenter and the innovations she brought to entertainment shows.
Doesn’t the stereotype want presenters to be goddesses and let everyone else go drown?
What does “goddess” mean?
Perfect image, perfect shots, perfect lighting, perfect beauty.
Wanting to support my female colleagues, I will tell you that a show does not come out with only a well-groomed and painted presenter. It’s not possible. And if he does, he can’t stand it. Let me tell you that I’m the kind of presenter who gets ready in a quarter of an hour to be on the air. School of Garlic.
Do you think that through your career you have contributed to deconstructing the stereotype of the blonde, naïve morning show host?
But I also had this stereotype in me. You know, there may be stereotypes in the image, but there are no stereotypes in the look and the heart. When I was starting out, I was “told” to wear bright blush and lipstick, to have a more passable image, to create a certain profile. And, if you will, that was the right thing to do at the time. That’s how I built my career.
Are you depressed?
No one pressured me, if you ask me that. I will give you a simple example. When I went to MEGA and started wearing white clothes at my premieres, the directors thought it was unheard of. Presenters didn’t wear white back then. Or I remember when I started wearing sneakers to shows. For a presenter not to wear heels back then, it meant she must have been sick. It was considered wrong. When I started, I didn’t know things either. But I tried.
