Performances will begin on April 14
The award-winning actor Gary Oldman (Gary Oldman) returns to the theater where his career began after nearly four decades to star in Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape.
The play by the famous Irish author follows a man named Crapp who, every year on his birthday, records a new tape recalling the year that has passed.
Performances will begin on April 14, 2025 and end on the 17th of the following month.
According to Variety, o actor began his career at the historic York Theater Royal in 1979 with a play by Ben Travers and remained until 1987.
“When Gary visited us earlier this year, it was fascinating to hear him tell stories from when he made his stage debut at York Theater Royal,” the theatre’s managing director Paul Crewes said in a statement.
“In this context, when we started looking for projects we realized that ‘Krapp’s Last Tape’ was the perfect project. I am delighted that audiences will have this unique opportunity to see Gary Oldman return to our stage in this brand new production.”
According to APE BEE, the Oscar-winning actor for the 2017 film “Darkest Hour” is currently filming the sixth season of the Apple TV+ espionage series “Slow Horses”. Gary Oldman earned an Emmy nomination for his role as Jackson Lamb in the series.
