“Out of necessity I started to write, it was the only solution”, confessed the music composer
Giorgos Hatzinassios was a guest on ERT’s “Studio 4” show on Wednesday afternoon, who gave an account of all the material. The successful composer spoke from the heart about his relationship with his wife, explaining why he followed the path of music.
“Maria and I met in Petalouda where she had come with her aunt and it was Halloween. He noticed me at the piano, he was also wearing a mask and he came and said “congratulations, you are a very good pianist”. We met over there, at some point we moved on and the knot came to the comb. I wasn’t much… a sought-after groom for Maria and her family. In other words, they intended her to find a lawyer, a doctor. My father-in-law came and said “if in six months you don’t arrange to get married, you have to divorce”. In the meantime, I had taken an apartment from my parents and we had signed promissory notes”, said Mr George Hatzinassios and continued:
“I can’t do that because I’m carrying a financial burden on me that I have to pay off for my parents, I told him. “Then break up” he told me and, as you can understand, I’m breaking up. Maria then had a say but we both suffered a lot. We didn’t keep in touch, I had also gone to Paris for my studies, but the separation hurt a lot. It’s a terrible feeling and I remember being depressed.
In the meantime I turn around and we meet again with Maria. I go home and my father-in-law welcomes me. Since then I had to escape from the night anymore because you can’t have a woman, especially from such a family, play in the centers at night and she comes to watch you. It was difficult. So out of necessity I started writing, it was the only solution.”
