The data announced by ELSTAT
Growth of 2.3% was recorded last year in Greek economy, After GDP growth by 2.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to 2023.
At the same time, there was a 0.9% GDP increase in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter of the same year.
According to ELSTAT’s estimation, GDP in 2024 in terms of volume amounted to € 201.5 billion versus € 197 billion in 2023. While GDP at current prices in 2024 amounted to EUR 237.6 billion versus € 225.2 billion in 2023, increasing 5.5%.
The rise of GDP by 2.6% in the fourth quarter last year came from the following changes in its key components:
*The total final consumer expenditure decreased 0.3% (household consumption increased 0.8% and that of the General Government decreased 3.4%).
*Private investment (gross capital capital investments) increased 9%.
*Exports of goods and services increased 3.6%. Exports of goods increased 1.6%, while exports of services increased 5.9%.
*Imports of goods and services increased 2.4%. Imports of goods increased 2% and imports of services increased 4.8%.
Whereas, in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter of the same year, there were the following changes:
*The total final consumer expenditure decreased 0.4% (household consumption decreased 0.1% and the general government increased 1.1%).
*Private investment (gross fixed capital investments) increased 5.3%.
*Exports of goods and services increased 0.9%. Exports of goods decreased 0.5%, while exports of services increased 2.2%.
*Imports of goods and services decreased 1.7%. Imports of goods declined 1.4%, while imports of services decreased 2.1%.
