Lost Mode works with any smartphone that has an NFC sensor and a web browser
Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of the Galaxy SmartTag2, a wearable device that brings upgrades to the Galaxy SmartTag series that enable new and improved ways to track users’ valuables.
As announced, the Galaxy SmartTag2’s new Lost Mode feature allows users to enter their contact information into the SmartTag via a simple message. Then, whoever finds the item with the Galaxy SmartTag2 can use their compatible smartphone to scan the SmartTag2 and see the message with the owner’s contact information. This means that if the Galaxy SmartTag 2 is placed on a pet’s collar, it could be a suitable solution so that the pet always has the owner’s phone on it.
Lost Mode works with any smartphone that has an NFC sensor and a web browser. The Galaxy SmartTag2 now provides an improved compass view function, upgrading the user experience with arrows showing the direction and distance of the Galaxy SmartTag2 from them. This feature is available on any Galaxy smartphone with UWB support, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
As announced among other things, the Galaxy SmartTag2’s durability has also been upgraded with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. This allows users to keep track of their belongings in even more challenging environments, such as while traveling. Pet owners don’t have to worry about daily wear and tear on the device from their animals’ water bowls or walks. The Galaxy SmartTag2 also supports a new pet walk mode, making it easy for users to record walks with their four-legged friends.
For Samsung Galaxy users, SmartThings Find can provide great security through the ‘Unknown Tag Alerts’ feature. This feature notifies users of any unauthorized tracking by sending them a notification if SmartThings Find detects an unknown SmartTag following them. This helps protect users and prevents misuse of location services.
