He killed his 60-year-old mother, on the eve of Christmas 2022, in Kalamaria
The therapeutic measure of hospitalization for three years in the Psychiatric Hospital was decided by the Mixed Jury of Thessaloniki for a 31-year-old man, who killed his 60-year-old mother, on the eve of Christmas 2022, in the apartment where they lived, in Kalamaria.
The 31-year-old man had been referred by the will of the competent Misdemeanor Council to the Criminal Court, where the judges were asked to rule only on the imposition of the appropriate therapeutic measure, without examining the substance of the case.
Taking into account the previous psychiatric report, which allegedly describes that the defendant suffers from schizophrenia with delusional disorders and was not conscious of the commission of his act, the Court decided on the continuation of hospitalization in the psychiatric hospital, where he remains since December 2022, after his apology to the investigator.
He did not appear in court, while his uncle was examined, who testified that the condition of his accused nephew’s health has improved with the medication he is receiving and that his family is by his side.
According to the case file, the homicide was preceded by an intense argument between mother and son. During the autopsy at the crime scene, the police found a sharp object, which was allegedly used by the perpetrator, taking the life of his mother.
