The president of the XEE on the Prime Minister’s announcements at the TIF
“The regulation announced by the Government on short-term rentals is a first positive step, which adopts the permanent position of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels on the separation of ordinary citizens who share their property to enhance their personal income, from all those who for so many years, recklessly and without rules, have been doing business”.
This is emphasized in a statement by the president of the Hotel Chamber of Greece, Alexandros Vassilikos, on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s recent statements to the TIF on short-term leases. As Mr. Vasilikos says, the effects of this regulation on competition, but also on the social problems created by the uncontrolled activity of short-term rentals, remain to be assessed in the immediate future, as well as the effects on the competitiveness of the Greek tourism product from the announcement of the increase in the hotel accommodation fee.
In this direction, the XEE, in its capacity as the institutional advisor of the State, will monitor and evaluate the developments in the hospitality market, remaining in constant dialogue with the government”.
