Its prices appear lower by 3% of this year’s “Christmas basket” in the big supermarket chains during the holidays (Christmas and New Year’s), compared to 2023, according to the Consumer Goods Retail Research Institute.
In his report IELKA the results of a price survey of products in large chains are presented supermarket in Greece in December 2024, examining the prices of the products included this year in the “Christmas basket”, as announced by the Ministry of Development.
The figures are based on prices from large supermarket stores. The survey concerns the product categories included in the Christmas basket: lamb, goat and turkey, as well as tsoureki, king pie and chocolate.
As it turns out, the basket in 2024 is on average reduced by 3% compared to 2023, afrom 44.90 euros to 43.55 euros. Decreased prices are recorded in turkey -7.9%, bun -5.9% pork -5.6%, lamb -3.9% and goat -2.2%, while an increase is recorded in chocolate by 11%, due to the increases in international cocoa prices.
It is noted that, according to the study, each supermarket chain includes both different product codes and a different number of codes in the basket.
