OR Gastrade announced “with great pleasure and pride” the awarding of the Lloyd’s Greek Shipping Awards “Ship of the Year 2024” to the company for the flagship Alexandroupolis FSRU project. The award took place at the organization’s annual glittering ceremony in the presence of more than 1,000 representatives of the maritime world. It is one of the most recognized institutions that highlight excellence and innovation in shipping.
“This award to our Company with one of the most important awards in the sector is recognition of its innovative technology and strategic importance Alexandroupolis FSRUof the first Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Storage and Gasification Unit in Greece, which constitutes a critical pillar for strengthening the energy security and diversification of South-East and Central Europe’s energy sources.
By enabling the transport of natural gas from Greece to the North in a safe, competitive and efficient way, the project promotes sustainable development and strengthens the energy autonomy of the region, decisively upgrading the role of Greece in the modern energy map of Europe, becoming the energy gateway for more than nine countries in the context of the Vertical Corridor initiative,” the relevant announcement emphasizes.
Upon receipt of the award, the Vice President and CEO of Gastrade, Mr. Konstantinos Sifnaios, said:
