Clothing-footprint, hotels, restaurants, cafes and housing recorded the largest price increases
A marginal deceleration occurred in February this year at the rate of inflation growth, as it increased 2.5% from 2.7% in January this year and growth 2.9% in February 2024.
In one year, inter alia, ratings were recorded in: clothing-footwear (6.4%), housing rentals (9.9%), electricity (6.7%), gas (41.1%), new cars (2.4%), passenger transport (10.8%), telephone services (2%) Cafes- canteens (5%), hotels-motel (17.5%), health premiums (7%), vehicle premiums (5.6%), café-cocoa-tea (4.7%), mineral water-soft drinks (5.3%), calf (5.7%), calf (5.7%). On the other hand, the decline in olive oil (16.9%) continued.
While in one month there were, among other things, new price increases in: pasta (7.4%), beef (1.2%), fresh full milk (3.9%), yogurt (2.6%), coffee (3.7%), housing rentals (0.8%), municipal fees (1.6%), electricity (0.4%) and electricity. It is also characteristic that the price decrease in olive oil (6.7%) continued.
According to ELSTAT, the increase in the General Consumer Price Index in February came mainly from the changes in the following groups of goods and services:
1. From the increases of indicators by:
– 0.2% in the “Nutrition and Non-Alcoholic Drinks” group, mainly due to prices in: bread and cereals, beef, pork, fish (general), other edible oils, dried fruits and nuts, frozen vegetables, vegetables, vegetables Refreshments- fruit juices. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease in prices mainly in: sausages, cheeses, olive oil, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, other foods.
– 2% in the group of “alcoholic beverages and tobacco”, mainly due to increased prices in alcoholic beverages (non -serving).
– 6.4% in the “clothing and footwear” group, due to rising prices in clothing and footwear.
– 5.1% in the “Housing” group, mainly due to rates of prices in: Home rentals, repair and home maintenance, home -related services, electricity, gas. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly of prices in: Heating oil, solid fuels.
– 3.4% in the “Health” group, mainly due to prices increase in: pharmaceuticals, medical products, medical, dental and paramedical services, hospital care.
– 0.3% in the Transport Group, mainly due to prices increase in: new cars, spare parts and car accessories, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, other personal transport services, plane passenger transport tickets. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in: used cars, fuels and lubricants.
– 1.7% in the Communications Group, mainly raising prices in telephone services.
– 0.9% in the “Recreation- Cultural Activities” group, mainly due to price prices in: recreational and cultural services, newspapers-books and stationery, holiday package. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in: audio and image processing equipment, constant recreation and culture goods.
– 2.6% in the “Education” group, mainly due to prices in: Preschool and Primary Education Tuition, Secondary Education tuition.
– 5.5% in the “Hotels- Coffee-Restaurants” group, mainly due to prices in: restaurants- pastry shops- cafes- canteens, hotels-motel-inns.
– 2.3% in the “Other Goods and Services” group, mainly raising prices in: Hairdressers and Personal Care Stores, other personal items, social protection services, health premiums, vehicle premiums, other services. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in other types of individual care.
2. From the reductions of indicators by:
– 0.7% in the “Standing Household goods and services” group, mainly due to a reduction in prices in direct consumption of household consumption. Part of this reduction was offset by increasing prices mainly in: furniture and decorative items, home services.
At the same time, the General Index declined 0.1% in February 2025 compared to January 2025, compared to a 0.1% increase in the corresponding comparison of the previous year.
In terms of harmonized inflation, it increased 3% in February this year compared to the corresponding index of February 2024, compared to a 3.1% increase in the corresponding comparison in 2024 to 2023. At the same time, the harmonized index did not change in February 2025, 2025. The year was 0.1%.
