International air arrivals increased by 4.8% in Greece in the first quarter 2025

International air arrivals in Greece in Greece during January-March 2025 were increased 4.8%, according to the Statistical Bulletin published by Insete Intelligence.

Specifically, 1.6 million international air arrivals were recorded, exceeding January-March 2024 levels, showing an increase of 77,000 arrivals (+4.8%). Of these arrivals, 73% took place at Athens Airport, 24% at Thessaloniki Airport and 3% in other regional airports.

Specifically, in January, 529,000 arrivals were recorded, with an increase of 44,000 (+9.1%). In February, 487,000 international arrivals were recorded, up 25,000 (+5.5%). Finally, in March, international air arrivals stood at 663,000, with a marginal increase of 7,000 (+1%).

In January-February 2025, travel receipts rose 3.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2024 and stood at € 599 million. This development is due to the increase in revenue from residents of other countries by 16.7%, which stood at EUR 311 million, as proceeds from residents of the European Union countries decreased by 7.3% and stood at EUR 282 million.

More specifically, receipts from residents of the euro area countries stood at € 241 million, down 2.1%, and revenue from residents of European Union countries outside the euro zone declined by 29.4% and stood at EUR 41 million.

In particular, receipts from Germany decreased by 4% and stood at € 61 million, as did France receipts that declined by 44.9% and stood at € 18 million. Italy was increased by 37.8%, which stood at € 44 million. Of the other countries, 34.3% rose to the United Kingdom, which stood at € 46 million, while US revenue increased by 51.2% and stood at € 88 million.

Concerning short -term leases, the evolution of the number of accommodation and short -term housing beds in the first quarter of 2025 shows a continuing increase compared to the corresponding period of 2024, maintaining the dynamics that began in 2023 and was reinforced by 2024.

In January, 213,000 accommodation was recorded, up 23,000 compared to January 190,000.

As for the available beds, in January, it was 947,000, up 101,000 compared to January 845,000. March 2024.
