Became more widely known as ERT correspondent in London
The journalist Lambis (Charalambos) Tsirigotakis “passed away” at the age of 84.
Lambis Tsirigotakis was born in 1941 in the Volos Promotion. In 1965 he began working at the Lambrakis Journalism Organization, in the weekly sports newspaper “Group” and then in the newspapers “VIMA” and “TA NEW”, outdoor report and free reporting. He interrupted his collaboration with DOL to study at the Lord Tomson School, then owner of the Times complex in Cardiff, Wales, where he graduated in 1966.
During the period 1969-1970, after being permanently settled in London, he worked as an extraordinary partner at Cardiff’s Western Mail and Liverpool’s Liverpool Post. In 1971 she accepted the proposal of the newspaper “Athletic Echo” to take over a correspondent in London and Europe, where she remained for a year, and in 1972 she worked for a few months in the sports newspaper “Light”.
Since 1977 and for about four decades he has worked as a correspondent for ERT and the Athens News Agency in London. In his long career, he participated in dozens of international missions, covered historical events, such as the Islamic Revolution of Khomeini in Iran and talked to personalities, including Nelson Mandela, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, Uloff.
In addition, he presented dozens of documentaries on ERT, covering issues of the Greek and international scene. He was awarded by the Japan Foreign Ministry for the documentary entitled “Greece of the Rising Sun”, by the newspaper “Ethnos” on the documentary entitled “Goodbye Miss Saigon” and by the Botsi Foundation. His rich experiences from his long career included in the book “Memories of Life”.
