The electoral battle is fought in the period of catastrophic floods
In the second round of regionals elections in Thessaly, the two regional governor candidates Kostas Agorastos and Dimitris Kouretas have been found who are claiming the vote of the Thessalians for the next five years. In the first round, regional governor of Thessaly and candidate with the “Alliance for Citizens” faction Mr. Agorastos had received 41.37% of the votes, against Dimitris Kouretas “Intervention”, who received 34.11%. It is noted that Mr. Agorastos is supported by ND, while Mr. Kouretas has the support of the broader center-left, specifically PASOK and SYRIZA.
The electoral battle is taking place during the period of the catastrophic floods in Thessaly, with the two candidate regional governors opposing each other and submitting proposals for the future of Thessaly, regarding the way to shield the region and also to deal with the consequences of the damage.
In the last few hours, there was open support for the candidacy of Kostas Agorastos by the candidate Eleftheria Tzanakoulis, who ran as an independent in the Regional Elections, but politically belongs to the ND party, receiving 9.49% in the first round. In this setting that has been created, there were of course some differences within the combination of Mrs. Tzanakoulis.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was also in Larissa on Friday afternoon to visit the city and declare his support for the candidacy of Kostas Agorastos.
