What is on the agenda?
The Minister of National Economy and Finance is visiting Brussels today, Monday 9 December, Kostis Hatzidakisin order to participate in its meetings Eurogroup and his Ecofin.
The Eurogroup meeting will be held today, where the agenda includes a discussion with the UK Chancellor of the ExchequerRachel Reeves, as part of a series of meetings with key international partners on global economic developments. Macroeconomic developments in the Eurozone will also be discussed based on the results of the interim evaluation of the International Monetary Fund, as well as the fiscal situation of the Eurozone member states based on the draft budgets they have submitted and their evaluation by the European Commission.
At the Ecofin meeting, which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 10, there will be a discussion about the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive and a progress report on the reform of EU customs legislation will be presented. Also, the ministers will be informed about the progress of the implementation of the Recovery Fund and will approve the revised national plans of Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia and Sweden.
The agenda also includes discussions on the course of implementation of the revised economic governance framework that entered into force on 30 April 2024, on the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and on the Annual Report of the European Court of Auditors on the execution of the EU budget EU for 2023.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Hatzidakis will have meetings with European officials.
