Claims the golden statuette in 11 categories, including best film and director
The film by George Lanthimos, “Poor Things”, collects eleven nominations at this year’s Oscars, including best film, direction, best actress for Emma Stone and best editing for George Mavropsaridis. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer leads this year’s nominations race with 13 nominations.
Today at 3:30 p.m. the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the final nominations in each category for the 2024 Academy Awards hosted by Zazie Beach and Jack Quaid. This year’s 96th Annual Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
Based on the book of the same name by Alistair Gray and screenplay by Tony McNamara, George Lanthimos reverses the Frankenstein myth and delivers a scathing essay on the freedom and joy of sex, class inequalities, individual and social self-determination, desire and the love. “Poor things” is already included in all major film magazines and international film critics’ lists of the best films of the year. The film had its world premiere last September at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Golden Lion, and also won the Golden Globe for Best Picture and Best Actress in the Comedy-Musical category, among other awards.
