He had killed the 24-year-old girl in May 2019
The life sentence that had been imposed by the first instance court was confirmed today by the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of the Aegean against her estranged husband, perpetrator of the murder in Mytilini in May 2019, of the then 24-year-old Eratous.
The court unanimously rejected the claim that the perpetrator was in a state of intoxication when the act was committed, and did not recognize any of the other mitigations requested by the perpetrator’s defense attorneys.
The case of the murder of Eratous had shocked the whole of Greece when the then 25-year-old perpetrator, with a hunting rifle, entered through the balcony door of the house where Erato lived and murdered her by aiming at the head, while their 2.5-year-old child was sleeping in the next room, APE reported.
In her court Mytilene and today next to the mother of Eratous, mothers of women who were murdered by men were found. Also today, women’s organizations and other collectives were in court supporting the request of Eratou’s family, “that life sentences should remain life sentences”.
