“It doesn’t bother me that I’m 90 years old, I just want to think, walk, dance and see my friends” says the beloved actress
Maro Kontou gave a full interview on the show “Pame Danae”.
“I have many hobbies. I paint, I cook, I garden, I am a carpenter if I have to and I play the biriba, my hands are generally busy. I’ve figured it out with myself. This was after the odd interval from the 50s to the 60s. I was lucky enough to search. I needed help because I had a lot going on, like the death of my mother and a divorce. Psychoanalysis unlocks some doors for you, which if you are not afraid to go through, you come out victorious. I may have lost the firmness of the skin and have wrinkles, but I don’t care in front of the others I have won”, said Maro Kondou initially.
The popular actress says that now she understands people more easily and justifies them: “I’m not in a hurry to criticize. Now I’m more forgiving, but not with everything. I can’t stand stupidity, bad taste and extreme cheap behavior. I don’t always appreciate compliments. When you’re a brand, it’s usually similar and that gets tiring.”
“I don’t know about the rest of you after 70, but I’ve cut out companionship,” she said, then added: “I like living alone. I had companionship until 20 years ago. I fell in love, they fell in love with me, I cried and they cried for me, what else? When two people match, there is no need for marriage. With my age the passion for reward is gone, I don’t need a great role and a full theater. I hear colleagues say, they want to die on stage and sorry, but I feel sorry for them. Can’t they live without the tent?’
Regarding the “Land of Olives”, Maro Kontou said: “I am not informed about the developments in the “Land of Olives”. I heard that Grigoris Valtinos will enter and I lost it. Andreas Georgiou invited me for “Gi tis Elia” and I immediately said “yes”, but then I also spoke with Vana Dimitriou”.
Maro Kondou said that so far there have been no health issues that have shaken her: “I pay attention to my diet, I exercise 5 minutes a day. An important thing for seniors is to have interests. I don’t hold back and I’ve never been a taboo person. This year I turned 90. I looked in the mirror and I don’t look, I would say I look 65 years old. I don’t mind being 90 years old, I just want to think, walk, dance and see my friends. I wouldn’t want to be 30 again. I made all the mistakes of my life then. My best season is now as long as it lasts.”
In closing, Maro Kondou said: “One piece of advice I would give women is not to inject. I had a face lift because my face was bothering me. I was very scared but I didn’t understand anything. I loved acting along the way, it wasn’t my dream. I started acting alongside Dimitris Horn where you love her whether you like it or not. I don’t want to lose me now that I’ve found me. Now I like me.”
