A first look from the nine-episode Apple TV+ blockbuster Masters of the Air has been released. It is the “spiritual successor” of HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific” again produced by Steven Spielberg (Steven Spielberg), Tom Hanks (Tom Hanks) and Gary Goetzman (Gary Goetzman) with a cost exceeding 250 million dollars, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
The screenplay is by John Orloff based on the 2007 book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
Austin Butler and Callum Turner star alongside Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law and Barry Keoghan among others.
“‘Masters of the Air’ is a salute to the brave men of the 8th Air Force, whose courage and brotherhood helped defeat Nazi Germany in World War II.”, Gary Getzman said in a statement. “Tom and Stephen have always wanted to capture on film what our writer Don Miller called, ‘a unique event.'”
According to official summary of the series, “some were shot down and captured others were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to return home. Regardless of their personal fate, they all paid a price.”
The series directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and Tim Van Patten will premiere exclusively on Apple TV on January 26, 2024.
