Facebook and Instagram won’t be able to use all ‘behavioral advertising’
The ban on all “behavioral advertising” imposed by Norway on Meta, which operates the Facebook and Instagram platforms, will be extended to all member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area, the European data protection regulator (EDPB) has announced ).
The Authority is asking the Irish data authority, where Meta’s European headquarters are located, to take action “within two weeks” to implement a ban on this targeted practice of “using (users’) personal data for advertising purposes” on the platforms of the American technology giant, it is stated in an announcement by the Authority.
