He breathed his last at the age of 79 and after serious health problems Kostas Hardavellas. The great journalist “left” on Tuesday afternoon (17/12), spreading immense sadness to his relatives and colleagues, who rushed to say goodbye to him through their public posts.
Kostas Hardavellas suffered greatly in the previous months, since as his wife also confessed, his health had declined with respiratory problems, while the journalist had lost his voice and a lot of weight. His last television appearance was on September 15, 2024 in the show “Confrontations” which he presented on Blue Sky.
There the late journalist did not fail to mention his adventure, sending his own, powerful message.
“To all of you that I feel your love for, I want to tell some truths that you should know. As you can see, my voice is not back yet, it is coming slowly, it is recovering. My vocal chords were affected by two very important diseases that found me. I faced them, I fought them, I won, I am here. I just have this voice problem, which I’m fighting, it will come”, said Kostas Hardavellas characteristically.
“It was a very difficult summer for me. Very difficult. I was fighting a constant battle with severe illnesses, with serious health problems. I got over it. Some say “hardavella, why don’t you sit at home, calm down, relax, get completely well and then start the shows?”. My answer is one. I believe that television is not only to inform and entertain. It is also giving some messages“, he had emphasized.
“The fact that I’m here right now while I’m not quite ready yet, to do televisionI want to send a message to all those who are suffering or not suffering, but are next to sufferers: Never give up. Never give up. Don’t accept the problem without fighting it. Within us is a thousand megaton bomb, which is the soul. Our soul. Put your soul in front of the problem, fight it and you will win. That’s why I’m here and that’s why I’ll be here all winter“, Kostas Hardavellas had confessed.
