The 45-year-old knocked on doors, broke the windows of the house and caused damage to parked cars in Volos
Nightmarish hours were experienced by a woman and her 10-year-old daughter on New Year’s Day, when her ex-husband, of Albanian origin, went to her house in Volos, knocked on the doors, broke the windows to break into the house and when he realized that the Police were coming, while leaving he caused damage to parked cars.
The 45-year-old, who was eventually arrested, had been deported and re-entered the country illegally. At the Volos Single-Member Criminal Court where he was referred to be tried, he argued that “my daughter had a birthday and I wanted us all to celebrate together”. According to his ex-wife, who had divorced him because of his violent nature, the 45-year-old went to her house on New Year’s Eve having consumed a large amount of alcohol and smashed the windows, terrifying their 10-year-old daughter. When she asked him to leave, the defendant entered his car and crashed into two parked cars, causing damage.
When he was located by the police authorities, the 45-year-old man resisted arrest and refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. The defendant apologized in court and admitted that he had consumed alcohol before going to his ex-wife’s house. He also admitted that he had entered the country illegally on foot, about 20 days ago.
The court found the 45-year-old guilty of illegal entry into the country, domestic violence, violence against employees and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test, sentencing him to 18 months in prison, a fine of 3,700 euros and the removal of his driving license for two months, with the appeal not maintains its inhibitory effect.
