“We met for coffee with my former players, Karagounis, Fyssa, Dellas,” said the former coach of the Greek national team
Otto Rehagel was a guest on Elena Papavasiliou’s EQ show on Action24 on Wednesday night (7/2). The former coach of the Greek National Football Team opened up in one of his rare interviews, talking about the path he has drawn in the field of sports.
“We met for coffee with my former players, Karagounis, Fyssa, Dellas. We shared many memories,” revealed Otto Rehagel.
“Today I showed a photo from when I was here on the Acropolis 40 years ago. If someone had told me then that in the future you would come here and celebrate with the people a huge success, I could not have believed it at all”, the well-known coach then confesses, 20 years after Portugal’s Euro victory.
“Nobody expected it then and so a special situation arose. I believe in coincidences and here I met young people who were at the peak of their lives. I placed them in such a way that they would succeed according to their potential”notes Otto Rehagel to Elena Papavasiliou.
“The recipe for success was players with their potential. But I placed them in such a way that they can exploit their abilities as effectively as possible”, points out our former federal coach.
In fact, Otto Rehagel did not hesitate to sing the first stanzas of the Greek national anthem together with Elena Papavasiliou.
