Transactions transacted through DIAS registered a double-digit growth rate
The penetration of the service is showing a rapid increase IRIS Payments in transactions, while the prospects for its further adoption are also increasing, as from February 1st freelancers will be compulsorily registered with the service.
According to the latest data, in 2023 the interbank service was significantly strengthened IRIS paymentswhich is provided by the banks, in collaboration with DIAS, with the aim of ensuring transactions with even greater speed, ease and security.
IRIS products include direct money transfers between friends (IRIS P2P), between professionals (IRIS P2B) and payments to e-shop (IRIS eCommerce) which recorded strong transaction growth rates of 251%, 293% and 69% respectively, compared to the corresponding figures of 2022.
Even more impressive is the evolution of these transactions 2023 compared to the previous three-year data (2020), as an increase of 2540% (IRIS P2P), 1125% (IRIS P2B) and 373% (IRIS eCommerce) is recorded.
At the same time, IRIS P2P users reached 2.2 million on 31/12/2023 (monthly record with 102 thousand new registrations in December 2023), more than four times the size compared to 2020, with 70% of users belonging to age group 18-34 years. On the same day, there were 155 thousand registered professionals in the IRIS P2B service, a size increased by 292.8% compared to 2022 and three times compared to 2020. The number of registered merchants/eshops in the IRIS eCommerce service reached 3.5 thousand. in 2023, enhanced by 19 times compared to 2020.
JUPITER
For the third year in a row, in 2023, transactions transacted through DIAS recorded double digit growth ratewhile the amount of their value moved to historical record levels for the 34 years of operation of the company as the domestic payment system.
Specifically, in 2023, JUPITER arranged 406 million transactions, with a total value of 450 billion euros, increased by 51.5% compared to 2020, when the value of transactions amounted to 297 billion euros. At the same time, a daily record was set on 02/10/2023 with 5.2 million transactions.
Enhanced the receipts footprint of businesses and organizations
Receipts of businesses and organizations appear strengthened, as they make up 37.6% (153 million) of all transactions handled in 2023. Businesses interfacing with DIAS for their collections doubled in 2023, compared to 2020, and last December the adoption of the RF/QR code was implemented by almost all (98%) of them.
A subset of bank credit transfers are direct credit transferswhich in 2023 constituted 43.4% of interbank transfers and amounted to 36.8 million transactions, increased by 109.4% compared to 2022.
In fact, almost 1 in 2 interbank transfers were handled directly in 2023, a remarkable increase from 1 in 7, which was in 2020. A daily record was set on 12/27/2023 with 647 thousand direct credit transfers. It is worth noting that direct credit transfers constitute 11% of all credit transfers, given that almost all receipts/payments of businesses and organizations are not made by direct credit.
