Passenger traffic increased by 14.5% compared to 2022 and by 11.7% compared to 2019
Over 50 million passengers were handled at Greek airports in the eight months (January-August) of 2023.
According to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Service (CAA) for all the country’s airports, (Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece), in the eighth month of the year 2023 in Greece (January /August 2023) the total number of passengers traveling at the airports (international and domestic passenger arrivals and departures) reached 50,152,145, compared to 43,788,675 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 44,895,202 passengers in 2019. The above statistics show an increase of passenger traffic by 14.5% compared to 2022 and an increase of 11.7% compared to 2019.
This year’s August, according to the same data, recorded an increase in passenger traffic by 5.7% compared to 2022 and by 10.8% compared to 2019, as 11,346,864 were handled in 2023, 10,730,460 were handled in 2022 and in 2019, 10,238,414 passengers were transported.
In terms of flight statistics (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures) August 2023 there were 81,501 flights, compared to 84,632 in 2022 and 77,555 flights in 2019, with air traffic down 3.7%, compared to 2022 and a 5.1% increase compared to 2019.
Flight statistics for the eight months of the year 2023 (January/August 2023) show that there were 388,804 flights in 2023, compared to 383,137 in 2022 and 368,414 flights in 2019, with air traffic for the eight months of 2023 up 1.5% compared to by 2022 and a 5.5% increase compared to 2019.
