At 21:00 the opening ceremony
The rhythms of the carnival have entered Patras, since at 9 pm the opening ceremony of the cultural institution will take place in Georgiou Square.
The events for today’s opening ceremony began in the morning with the action “Doros” which caused a carnival-like disturbance in the center of Patras.
Specifically, at 11:00 in the morning, groups of carnivalists gathered on the new pedestrian street of Maizonos and started a carnival procession ending in Georgiou Square, making a carnival “doro”. On the stage of Georgiou Square there was a DJ and a dance program followed.
The opening ceremony will take place at 9pm in George Square and the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a live music program by the band “Cubaneros”, who will perform favorite songs, lasting about an hour.
At the same time, the ritual “narrative” with the symbols and messages of the carnival will also evolve, reported APE BEE.
“The carnival energy of Patras”, according to the non-profit enterprise of the Municipality of Patras “Carnival of Patras”, “is depicted in the three colors of the carnival banner and is carried by the gathered crowd of the square, to its exponent, the harlequin”.
Also, “through the magical and perpetual dance of bodies and colors, the harlequin will travel the participants of the event through three dominant moments of the carnival life of the city, each time giving the baton to the music and the image”.
“The first image”, according to KEDIP, “refers to the mask, disguise and transformation, the second image conveys the carnival events and the energy of the parade during the great revelry and the third focuses on the power of the body, dance and of rhythm”.
Afterwards, the mayor of Patreon, Kostas Peletidis, will make the official announcement of the start of the patreon carnival 2025 and together with the president of KEDIP, Pavlos Skouras, will give the trigger for the great climax of the evening. At the same time, the traditional custom of the chocolate war will have its established presence with the throwing of chocolates to sweeten the crowd.
In the meantime, since yesterday morning there is the carnival banner in Patras town hall, which was delivered for the first time by preschool children.
