The jewelry designer on the reactions to the right to adopt children by same-sex couples
Periklis Kondylatos was a guest on Katerina Kainourgiou’s show on Wednesday morning, who, when asked about the much-discussed bill regarding adoption by same-sex couples, also made a personal confession about his relationship with his parents.
“The relationship with my father was a bit strange, we lived in Athens while he worked in the countryside, so I grew up without his presence. Now we have contacts – we didn’t have for some time – but we have found them”, Periklis Kondylatos admits. “My parents are now two big people, I try to put any complaints I have about them aside, because I don’t even know how much time I have left with them. “Whether we’ve had a good time or not, I’ve realized that at some point we become our own parents,” he adds right after.
“The bill is a very important issue, which you cannot take on your own. Initially we have not accepted as a society the sexuality of homosexuals, we have not accepted them as normal people. If we had accepted that they have the same rights, we would not be discussing this now”, answers Periklis Kondylatos about the issue of the days.
“I already know some people, they are also from your area and the whole world knows them, who are same-sex couples and have children. I have seen these children grow up with so much love. Did I, who grew up with heterosexual parents, grow up perfectly?”, notes Periklis Kondylatos on the subject.
