“He said he was having conversations and the lizards were answering him. They have made him a brand in the name of which some have become rich”
The discussion on the show “Breakfast SuSou” was ignited on the occasion of the second cycle of the series “Agios Paisios” and the comments of Petros Tatsopoulos, who was invited to the Open magazine. The author made similar comments on social media and raised a storm of reactions from the Church’s flock.
“Someone who cannot face certain opinions creates a scarecrow of those opinions and fights this scarecrow. I would have no problem if the story of Paisius was presented as a religious fable. On the contrary, it was marketed as a historical series and there I said: oops”, said initially Petros Tatsopoulos.
“However, when in the series you accept that, for example, Paisios talks to a biology student about Darwin and tells him that all this is nonsense… Paisios who went to 3rd grade. He says it all started with Adam and Eve and so on. He even asks for a sign from God,” continues the well-known journalist and author.
“To all of us who believe it has happened to say: give me a sign, my Virgin Mary. It has happened to me”, observed Eleni Tsolaki.
“My Helen, we call this a fairy tale. There are a lot of disturbed people who may be seeing things. I deal with everything based on logic,” replied Petros Tatsopoulos, provoking the panel’s reaction.
“Don’t I have the right to believe where I want and how I want? It is the right of every human being,” asked Eleni Tsolaki, with Poseidonas Yiannopoulos stressing: “Why should faith be considered disenfranchisement?”.
“Paisius was a good monk, but he was obviously disturbed, because he himself thought that he was talking to lizards, that he was having conversations and the lizards were answering him. They have made him a brand in the name of which some have become rich”, comments Petros Tatsopoulos at another point of his position.
