At the 30th AGROTICA, which took place from February 1-4, the CEO of Piraeus Bank Mr. Chr. Megalou met with the Minister of Rural Development Mr. L. Avgenakis
With an eye on the new Common Agricultural Policy 2021-2027, which aims at the sustainable development of the agricultural economy, the Bank of Piraeus stands firmly alongside the farming world by taking initiatives and offers integrated and personalized banking solutions to every farmer, agricultural cooperative and agribusiness.
In the context of Agrotica, the CEO of Piraeus Bank, Mr. Chr. Megalou met with the Minister of Rural Development, Mr. L. Avgenakis, in the presence of the General Secretary of the Greek Tax Agency, Mr. G. Stratakos, the Senior General Manager of Piraeus Bank, Mr. Th. Tzouros, and the General Manager of Rural Banking of Piraeus Bank, Mr. Al. Alexander. At the meeting, the strategic issues concerning the primary and more broadly the agri-food sector were examined, while Piraeus Bank’s support in this vital sector of the Greek economy was confirmed.
Piraeus Bank recognizes the need to transition the primary sector to a sustainable tomorrow. This purpose was served by all three events held in the context of Agrotica and which he welcomed the General Manager of Rural Banking of the Piraeus Group, Mr. Alkiviadis Alexandrou.
- The views of scholars-consultants from Crete to Thrace, who are active in the primary sector of the economy, were discussed by the executives of the Agricultural Bank at the working meeting “Opportunities and challenges in the new programming period for the agricultural sector”, which was coordinated by the Director of Business Development Piraeus Bank, Mr. G. Chaniotakis.
- At the event “Cooperative Schemes of the Agri-Food Sector – Facing the challenges of the next day – Sustainable Development, Operational Resilience, Extroversion”, which was organized in collaboration with the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives (EAAS) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the transition to a sustainable tomorrow through the cooperative schemes of the Agricultural Sector was examined extensively. At the event, which was coordinated by Director of the Agricultural Sector Development Center of Piraeus Bank, Mr. Alexis Polytakis, the Director of Rural Sector Entrepreneurship Centers of Piraeus Bank, Mr. Giorgos Avatangelos spoke, who focused on the dynamics of Producer Groups, Cooperatives and corporate partnerships and the strengthening of their sustainable entrepreneurship through the Bank’s integrated financial tools.
- In a special event of the Piraeus Bank program “EQUALL Women in Agriculture”, the farmers Mrs. Paraskevi Biki and Mrs. Paressa Sidiropoulou, who completed the program, participated in a discussion with Mrs. Nancy Zachariadou from the Cultural and Social Actions Unit of the Piraeus Group and Mr. Alkiviadis Alexandrou, General Manager of Rural Banking of the Piraeus Group. In the discussion, Mrs. Biki and Mrs. Sidiropoulou emphasized the supplies they obtained from the program, in order to continue and further develop the exercise of their agricultural activity. In the context of the exhibition, Piraeus Bank’s Agricultural Banking executives had a series of contacts with farmers, representatives of cooperative schemes and agri-food businesses, with the aim of highlighting the possibilities offered by the Bank for their support and their successful transition to a sustainable agricultural model production.
