The two female leads return to their roles after 22 years, playing mother and daughter
The sequel to the hit comedy ‘Freakier Friday’ released in 2003 starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis has been given a release date.
According to Walt Disney Studios’ social media post, the film is expected to premiere on August 8, 2025, the same day as Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Battle of Baktan Cross” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It was accompanied by a shot of Curtis and Lohan re-enacting one of the original film’s most famous scenes.
The two female protagonists return to their roles after 22 years, playing mother and daughter. Tess and Anna respectively, who accidentally switch bodies. Returning with them are Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Sung, Steven Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. According to the official synopsis, “as they face the myriad challenges that arise when the two families come together, Tess and Anna discover that lightning can indeed strike twice.”
The film has already wrapped shooting directed by Nisha Ganatra and produced by Andrew Gunn and Christine Burr, Deadline reports.
