“It was difficult financially, it was the first years”
Stories from the theater and the collaboration with her colleagues were shared for the first time by Sophia Moutidou. The well-known actress described to her online friends on YouTube unknown incidents that happened behind the scenes of the performances in which she has participated but also from her daily friction with the other protagonists.
“I auditioned for the first time at Hatzakis’ Ecclesiastes. I remember we warmed up for hours. There I met Anna Vagena, who at some point approached me, came to my house and gave me money. He tells me: I have given the same money to my daughters, you can take what you want. I seemed to be of the… poor. With that money I remember buying a sleeping bag, a handbag and a dress. Thanking her publicly for this gift, I didn’t feel ashamed or inferior at all“, says Sofia Moutidou.
“We started rehearsals on a project with her Alexandra Paleologu and going down Alexandras Avenue he turned and said to me “do you have money for the taxi?”. And he gave me money for the taxi. What should I see about Alexandra? A lot of stars are in this space,” the actress then said.
“Another audition was the one with Reppa-Papathanasiou for Safe Sex. I must have been at school then and heard that there was an audition. The night before I had a party at my house, I got up in the morning in a miserable state to print out my resume to go to the audition but I couldn’t find a… socket, because we had the speakers plugged in for the party. I went like that without a voice, they asked me for a CV and I didn’t have it and when I left I also hit my head on the tail of a piano. I ate defeat”, described Sofia Moutidou with humor right after.
“At a party I had given and all the actors and technicians from “Stavlus” had come, I had also invited Chrysoula Diavati. I didn’t think she would come, I was like “now a leading lady, a big woman”. Not only did he come, but he brought me silver jewelry and a lemon pie he had made,” said Sofia Moutidou at the end of the video.
“He approached me once and said: I will bring you oil as much as you want, you can have the oil of your year from me. And I was really struggling financially, it was the first years. He tells me: look, I see you are struggling, when I started I didn’t have tights either, my tights had holes and I didn’t have a bra. And he gave me money, to be more comfortable that month. They are stories that no matter how many years pass, I will remember them with special emotion”, concluded Sofia Moutidou about Chrysoula Diavati.
