who confessed that he killed his wife with a hammer and then hid her for a week in the attic of their house in Ampelokipi.
Shortly before 11:00 in the morning, the accused for manslaughter in a calm state of mind, illegal possession of weapons, use of weapons, was taken to the investigative office, in order to give his version of the events. The 39-year-old reportedly declared himself devastated and remorseful in front of the 25th regular investigator and crying continuously, he claimed that the only thing he cares about now is the fate of his two children, 9 and 12 years old, who were sleeping at home at the time of the crime.
The defendant, according to information, allegedly claimed that on the fateful night 12 days ago, he suspected that his wife was talking on the phone with a third person and they started arguing. Then, the accused allegedly said, he became confused when his wife told him that the one child was not his and lost control. The 39-year-old appears to have insisted on his apology, that the crime was in no way premeditated, but in a fit of mental rage he grabbed a hammer from his work bag and struck her.
He then allegedly tried to bring her back, but when he realized she was dead, he panicked and decided to hide the body and reassure his children by pretending their mother had left the house. The 39-year-old reportedly described how after killing the woman, he first put her in the closet and then covered her body with a sheet, bagged it and hid it in the loft. Next to her, in the loft, he had rested the hammer. The day after the crime he made sure to send the children to a relative, while he himself remained at home.
The defendant appears to have tried to mislead the children, as well as the relatives of the unfortunate woman, by sending them messages in which he told them that he was fine and had gone abroad. The body of the unfortunate woman was all these days in the attic of the ground-floor apartment and a strong stench was emerging in the neighborhood, which the police noticed as soon as they arrived at the house. It was preceded by the communication of the accused with the authorities in which he informed them about the crime.
According to his lawyer, Christos Stathis, the accused asked to be taken to prison himself and not even to consider the possibility of house arrest with a “bracelet”.
