Continuous compliance with EASA Regulatory Requirements for the 14 Regional Airports managed and operated by Fraport Greece
For for the third year in a row, the annual European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulatory compliance conference was organized.
The subject of the conference was the review of Fraport Greece’s progress in achieving regulatory compliance in the areas of organization, operation and infrastructure of airports, under the guidance of the Civil Aviation Authority. At the same time, a clear reference was made to the operational challenges and the criticality of carrying out inspections for regulatory compliance issues, according to EASA, especially at a time when airports managed by Fraport Greece infrastructure upgrade projects included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan are implemented.
During the conference, the National Security Framework was presented, which was drawn up by the Civil Aviation Authority, with the aim of strengthening aviation security. Extensive reference was also made to the developments of the European Regulatory Framework for the safe operation of airports and aviation safety.
Finally, a discussion was also held on the combined role of adapting airports to the development of technology, with the reinforcement of the already high level of security provided.
The works of this year’s conference were honored with their participation by the Civil Aviation Authority: Dr. Christos Tsitouras, APA Governor, Georgios Iliopoulos, Head of the APA Governor’s Office, Angelos Beligiannis, Head of the Aviation and Airport Supervision Department, Vasilios Vasilaros, Head of the Airports and Waterways Supervision and Certification Department, Sarandos Psykakos, Head of the Regulations and Supervision Department Char of, Embodi and Infrastructure, Georgios Kasimatis, Head of the Security and Incident Management Department, Emmanuel Vailas, representative of the Department of Regulations and Supervision of Maps, Obstacles and Infrastructure and representatives of Fraport Greece from the Operations Department and the Technical Department.
Dr. Christos Tsitouras, Commander of the Civil Aviation Authority, stated in his opening greeting: “The Civil Aviation Authority, seeking to maintain the highest possible level of aviation safety at all Greek airports, has created an effective system of surveillance of the aviation market, as indicated by the particularly positive results of the recent audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization in our country. We believe that the 3rd annual Regulatory Compliance Conference will be a platform for fruitful dialogue, highlighting at the same time the significant impact that the completion of infrastructure projects will have on the continuous improvement of the tourism product, for the benefit of the Greek economy and local communities.”
Mr. Panagiotis Spyratos, General Manager of Operations at Fraport Greeceannouncing the opening of the conference, stated, among other things: “The main pillar of this particular conference is the good cooperation of the two parties with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experience and jointly drawing up the axis of work for this year, ensuring, with continuity and consistency aviation security. Mrs Ioanna Kouri, EASA Compliance Management Manager of Fraport Greecefocused on the importance of the conference, stating, among other things: “The annual EASA regulatory compliance conference is an institution that demonstrates in practice the continuous monitoring of developments in regulatory compliance and their binding application, both in the operational operation as well as in the infrastructures of the 14 Regional Airports.”
