A total of 65 million euros were deposited to 14,000 citizens in about a month
Today, October 13, the 8th payment of first aid to households, entrepreneurs, livestock breeders and farmers was made, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for natural disaster recovery and state aid, Christos Triantopoulos, during a briefing by the Coordination Business Center in Larissa.
In particular, as he said, 11.2 million euros were credited to 2,940 beneficiaries, as assistance for the coverage of household goods through the intersections of the general secretariat of Natural Disaster Restoration and State Aid and the automatic procedure of the AADE, but also as first aid against the grant of state aid to businesses, livestock units and agricultural holdings. As Mr. Triandopoulos mentioned, this week a total of 17.8 million euros were paid to 4,848 beneficiaries.
“So in total, within the first month after the extreme flooding phenomenon, almost 65 million euros have been paid to approximately 14,000 of our fellow citizens. 65 million euros to 14,000 of our fellow citizens after checks and cross-checks, in times that have no relation to the past, such as, of course, the magnitude of the disaster in our region. This is our mission, to respond, as quickly as possible, to the needs of our fellow citizens”, noted Mr. Triandopoulos and then thanked the partners and staff of the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Aid and AADE for the project them, the executives of the Region of Thessaly and ELGA, as well as all the citizens with whom they are in daily contact.
“Our work continues, as do the autopsies in the field,” said Mr. Triandopoulos, adding that to date, more than 28,000 census autopsies and rechecks have been carried out in more than 260 communities in the region. He also emphasized that the flow of declarations to the first aid platform, arogi.gov.gr, continues and pointed out that to date, 46,353 finalized applications and 4,405 temporary applications have been made on the first aid platform.
“As expected, the flow of applications increased, as farmers also joined the first aid from this week,” he underlined. First aid payments to farmers have also started. “Thus, to date approximately 1,600 farmers, who submitted an application just 2-3 days ago, have been paid 3.2 million euros. With the same intensive pace, we will continue the framework of support for our fellow citizens in the coming days, with new first aid payments”, stressed Mr. Triandopoulos.
At the same time, as he mentioned, within the framework of the government’s State Aid Committee, emergency funding has been provided immediately, from the first days and within this first month, through the Ministry of the Interior to municipalities, to the Region and to DEYA. “Emergency funding that exceeds – for now – 90 million euros for crisis management and the first restorations in infrastructure and networks, as well as animal feed. And of course this will continue. At the same time, the scheme of housing assistance has been activated for the repairs to the damage to houses and other buildings, whether they have been classified as “green”, or as “yellow”, or as “red”. Repairs of houses and other buildings, with an initial committed budget that exceeds 110 million euros in the current phase”, noted Mr. Triandopoulos.
In addition, he underlined that “all the measures of the state aid framework are in progress and being implemented at a rapid pace, in cooperation with all the ministries and the Region of Thessaly and the regional governor, Kostas Agorastos”. As Mr. Triandopoulos concluded, “we will continue with these, the fast speeds, so that the aid of the state reaches our fellow citizens who need it. So that our Thessaly can get back on its feet and continue the development path it has been following all these years. Thessaly can, deserves and will succeed. We will achieve it together.”
