It will help secret agents to be able to confirm the validity of the information
The CIA is developing its own AI chatbot that will be quite similar to the hugely popular ChatGPT.
The chatbot will be trained on publicly available data so that undercover agents can confirm the validity of the information, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Bloomberg reports that the CIA is working with other intelligence agencies to create the chatbot. According to CIA Director of Open Source Enterprise Randy Nixon, the chatbot will be ready soon.
During the interview, Nixon addressed the current phase of technology.
“We’ve gone from newspapers and TV, to big data, and that’s continuing,” he said. “We have to find the needles in the haystack,” he added.
Leveraging the widely recognized data collection programs the US operates around the world, Nixon explained that the chatbot would allow officers to analyze huge amounts of data, notes it decrypt.
“The scale of what we collect has grown astronomically over the past 80-plus years, to the point where it could be daunting and sometimes useless to our customers,” Nixon said. “Our collection will continue to grow with no restrictions beyond how much they cost,” he added.
However, it is not clear how limitless the CIA’s capabilities will be. Several government agencies—including the CIA—have exceeded their legal limits in terms of the amount and type of information they collect from citizens. Nixon argued that the new tool will comply with US privacy laws.
However, he did not say how it would be protected against information leakage.
